You may be wondering why I created a coaching programme for women affected by disability and long term health conditions – so let me share my story with you.
Back in 2008 I graduated University with honours but no clue on what I wanted to do. I had majored in both Film and Education but I didn’t want to work in the film industry and I didn’t want to teach. In all honesty the thought of having to work for someone was pretty off putting as I had had nothing but negative experiences of employment due to my disability.
I was diagnosed with Dyspraxia in 2005- a condition which affects my co-ordination, working memory and ability to understand non verbal language. Trying to ‘read between the lines’ in all of my vacation and part time jobs was impossible, and employers became frustrated that I never worked overtime, or came to social events. I thought they were optional- apparently not!
